Red Knots stop on Delaware Bay during spring migration to feed on horseshoe-crab eggs. The Bombay Hook checklist records them as abundant in spring and only occasional in summer and fall — a narrow window, which is why the timing matters more here than the place.
Where to look
Delaware Bay beaches in May. Slaughter Beach and the Prime Hook shore are the names that come up.
