What changed, and who hasn't noticed

I said the state published no course details. It publishes scorecards for six of them.

This page told readers that DNREC named the parks and published nothing else, so hole counts and layouts would stay blank here rather than be invented. That was wrong. Delaware State Parks publishes a scorecard and a drawn course map as a PDF for six of the seven state park courses — hole counts, par off each tee, the length of every hole and the basket model. They were on destateparks.com the whole time and nobody had looked. The maps are now on the course cards and each links to the state's original. One thing fell out of it worth keeping: Cape Henlopen is 19 holes, not the 18 that gets repeated everywhere.

Still published wrong: Course directories and disc golf apps list these as 18 holes across the board, including Cape Henlopen.

State park entry fees rose for the first time in a decade — beach parks roughly doubled

Daily entry at the beach parks went to $10 for a Delaware-registered vehicle and $20 out-of-state. Inland parks are $5 and $10. Annual passes are $50 and $100, with a $150 lifetime pass for Delaware residents 65 and over, and a $10 annual pass for those receiving State Service Center assistance. The previous rates were $35 and $70.

Still published wrong: Most guides still quote the pre-2026 numbers, which are roughly 43% low.

Rehoboth moved its dog dates — dogs get two extra weeks of beach

The commissioners re-cut the seasonal restriction dates to match the city's parking season. The beach and boardwalk closure moved from May 1 – September 30 to May 15 – September 15, and leashed dogs are now allowed September 16 – May 14, except when lifeguards are on duty. Dogs come back on 16 September, not 1 October.

Still published wrong: Rental agencies, tourism pages and most published guides still print the old May 1 – September 30 window.

Lewes considered banning dogs at guarded beaches in summer — outcome unknown

A city ad hoc committee met on 17 December 2025 to consider banning dogs outright during summer at the guarded beaches, to reduce confusion and dog waste. The city's own FAQ still publishes the before-8am / after-6:30pm rule and I've found no record of a final vote. Rehoboth quietly re-cut its own dates a month later, so treat this as live until the city says otherwise.

Still published wrong: Everyone, potentially — including us. This is the single Delaware beach rule I'd most want confirmed before making a trip.

Iron Hill closed every location, including the Newark original

Founded in Newark in 1996 and 29 years old, Iron Hill closed all of its locations in September 2025. Delaware's most historically significant brewpub chain, and it started here.

Still published wrong: Delaware Today's craft brewery guide still lists the Wilmington and Newark locations as active, with addresses and menu descriptions.

Reservations dropped at seven of the twelve drive-on crossings

DNREC suspended weekend and holiday reservations at seven crossings, leaving five: Gordons Pond, Herring Point, Navy Crossing and Point Crossing at Cape Henlopen, plus 3Rs at Delaware Seashore. Everywhere else needs a permit but no reservation.

Still published wrong: Nearly every guide, forum post and blog still says all seven multi-use beaches require a reservation. Getting it wrong the other way costs a $107 fine.
