Restrooms

Portable units — season not confirmed

A portable unit. Not a plumbed block — the city's amenity list doesn't mention restrooms at all, so this is only here because someone stood in front of it.

Confirmed 4 Aug 2026 · Site maintainer, in person

A hundred-acre du Pont estate garden given to the city in 1942, sitting outside the city limits near Hoopes Reservoir. A paved path along a creek, and in early spring the magnolias and the daffodil bank. That's genuinely it — no playground, no pavilion, no plumbing. Come for a walk and the flowering trees, not for an afternoon.

Field notes

What I saw on the day. Not checked with anyone, and it can go out of date faster than the facts above.

  • Field note · 8 August 2026 · Site maintainer

302-571-4278 for Valley Garden. This was the last park on the site with no number at all: the Wilmington Park Trust Fund Commission runs it and publishes nothing, so no amount of reading operator pages was going to produce this one.

  • Field note · 4 August 2026 · Site maintainer

There's a porta potty, a paved path and the creek. Little else — no playground, no pavilion, nothing to fill a bottle from.

Resized in your browser before they're sent, so this works on one bar of signal. Location data is stripped from anything published.

The form above isn't wired up yet, so this opens your mail app with the details filled in. Copy your note across if you've typed it.

Not published. A person reads it, and if I can use it, it becomes a dated fact here. How that works.
