Can dogs go on Fenwick Island beach?
Dogs are not allowed on Fenwick Island today
Today falls inside the May 1 – September 30 closure — off the beach at every hour. Dogs come back October 1.
No pets on the town beach at any hour from May 1 to September 30. They are allowed October 1 through April 30 — the strictest dates on the coast, and two weeks earlier than Rehoboth.
Fenwick Island in the closed season. The guard stand matters too: where an off-season allowance exists, it usually doesn't apply on days lifeguards are working.

Also true
- Where the town beach ends
- Lewes Street to E. Atlantic Street. Beyond it is Fenwick Island State Park.
- State park next door
- The park's surf-fishing and non-guarded stretches allow leashed dogs year-round. This is the closest legal summer beach to Fenwick.
- Scope
- The ban is written for all pets, not only dogs.
Fenwick is stricter than the towns above it
Rehoboth closes 15 May and reopens 16 September. Bethany closes 15 May and reopens 1 October. Fenwick closes 1 May and reopens 1 October — two weeks earlier at the front and the latest at the back. Five towns on one twenty-five-mile stretch of coast, and no two of them share a set of dates. Any guide that gives you a single answer for "the Delaware beaches" is wrong about at least three of them.
Where to go instead during the closure
Most guides answer the summer question with "you can't." These are the places where a dog is legal anyway.
